Unique Dance Academy evolved from Teagan Leigh Dance Academy in 2019. Teagan Leigh Dance Academy was first established in 2015 by Teagan de Marigny and specialised in AcroDance. From September 2019 Jason Sisam joined as co-director and TLDA rebranded to Unique Dance Academy. It now has classes in numerous dance styles. AcroDance, Tumbling, Hip hop, Dance Technique, Dynamic dance and Contemporary Dance. Click here to find out more about each dance style. The Academy is open to all levels from beginners through to professionals with the starting age of 2.5 years old.
The Academy also runs as an entertainment company, called Unique Entertainment. Unique Entertainment produces a high standard of professional entertainment for all different types of events, which includes, corporate functions, music videos, year end functions and awards shows.
Unique aims at producing dance students and dance works of high quality and excellence.
TEAGAN
LEIGH

Teagan Leigh is a professional dancer/acrobat, dance choreographer and dance studio owner from Cape Town, South Africa. Teagan grew up dancing in Durban at ‘The Studio’. She moved to Cape Town in 2009 to pursue her dance career. Teagan studied at UCT School of Dance, where she majored in Ballet, Contemporary and Choreography.
Teagan was one of 4 South Africans who were chosen for a ballet/contemporary/martial arts/acrobatic show in Shanghai China where she worked with choreographers Charles Moulton, Melissa Barak and ‘Cirque du Soleil’ Alain Gauthier.
After returning from China Teagan worked with French Choreographer Cie Yann Lheureux who uses contemporary techniques mixed with Hip Hop, Breakdancing and Acrobatics. She performed in his production ‘Macadam Instinct’ in Johannesburg. Over the years Teagan has worked with numerous contemporary dance companies in Cape Town: iKapa Dance Theatre, New World Dance Theatre and Darkroom Contemporary.
In more recent years Teagan has moved into doing more TV commercials, music videos, film productions and corporate events, where she has been employed as a dancer, acrobat and stunt performer. Some of these highlights include, Sophia Grace, Rosie’s Royal Adventure and The Kissing Booth. Some TV commercials include Autotrader UK, Paragard, Regatta, HSBC and VW. She has also toured around South Africa teaching contemporary and AcroDance workshops.
One of Teagan’s highlights of her career was working as Joey King’s dance/body double in The Kissing Booth 2 in 2019. Teagan has recently started performing speciality acts for numerous types of events. Her acts include handstand canes as well as a strength act with partner Oleksi.
Teagan is exceptionally skilled in acrobatics and tumbling and won many championships during her competitive years. In 2018 she opened her own acrobatic dance school, Teagan Leigh Dance Academy which has grown tremendously. The studio has now evolved into a multi-discipline dance academy called Unique Dance Academy that she co-owns with Jason Sisam.
JASON
SISAM

Jason is a 29-year old Dance Choreographer from Cape Town who started his hip-hop dance training at the age of 14 with Out of Africa Dance Academy and participated yearly in the National Hip Hop Championships at Grand West Arena, Sun City and twice in Germany where he received numerous gold medals and other accolades.
He participated in a 4-week Summer Dance Intensive Workshop in New York where he achieved 3 gold medals at the North American Dance Championships.
He attended the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) Summer Intensive Workshop in Los Angeles California for one month which included ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, African and tap.
He has performed at numerous corporate functions as well as the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup, participated as a judge in several Hip-Hop Championships, hosted hip-hop workshops, performed for the Saudi Prince in Dubai at an Anti-Diabetic Fundraiser and has made several TV appearances in dance shows and competitions.
With Door 6 Entertainment he tackled Broadway in 2011 for the first time and choreographed the show “Razzle Dazzle” which was very well received. He then co-directed and choreographed the internal video to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” for Southern Sun at the Cape Sun, the “Tina Turner Tribute Show” at Golden Valley Casino in Worcester, “Fabulous Burlesque” in Franschhoek and “Simply The Best” (A Tribute to Tina Turner) at the Pavilion V&A Waterfront. From September to December 2011 he participated as the Hip-Hop Choreographer in the biggest TV show “Bounce” in Luanda, Angola and again in 2012.
He was the Choreographer for “District” a boy band signed by New York music label D-Street Media Group. In 2015 & 2016 he choreographed music videos for international Singer “Monk Chief”: ‘Conga’ & ‘No Lie’.
In October 2016 Jason traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to choreograph Desmond John’s music video – ‘Untradable’.
Jason founded his own entertainment company, DHONAA Productions™ in February 2013. He has done numerous corporate functions with his company which include Old Mutual, The Foschini Group 4th year anniversary after rebranding, Beluga, Nederberg International Wine Auction, Woolworths end of year function and many more.
Jason traveled to Europe teaching International workshops in Portugal Lisbon, Benfica, Germany and many more. Jason is currently the Creative Director/Choreographer and Social Media consultant for South Africa’s X-Factor winner Steven Lee and has worked as a choreographer for many different artists in South Africa and abroad. He is also the Co-Owner of Unique Dance Academy.
